1. The most righteous—Saʿid, delight of the age—has returned from his journey,

    to Egypt, with glory and victory among his escort.

  2. He gained the recovery he sought, which gladdens

    the throne of his kingdom; his countenance is its moon’s radiance.

  3. From Europe the breeze conveyed to us, concerning him,

    before we met, the fairest report that ears could hear.

  4. And it proved true that the kings of the earth related of him

    pearls of his that fill both ears and eyes.

  5. The familiar homeland thus took heart, and there revived

    the spirits of its countryside and its towns.

  6. At his arrival, the realm of His Highness attained,

    of all its hopes, the victory for which it yearned.

  7. And every youth among his subjects gained,

    upon his return, that which clears the mote from his eye.

  8. The nightingale of delight, in the garden of joy, became

    a minstrel, singing its congratulations upon its tree.

  9. And all the world’s gratitude to God increased for

    his serene arrival, while felicity hastened in his wake.

  10. May he ever remain, alongside Tosun, the master whom his state serves,

    throughout all time, mighty in rank among his people,

  11. successful in his endeavors, which have prospered

    in bringing him whatever fulfillment he desired,

  12. upheld by troops like lions; and for him,

    throughout all creation, there are longings to behold him.

  13. What Majdi said, chronogramming his return, was:

    The most righteous—Saʿid, delight of the age—has returned from his journey.
