أَغدرتَ بي بَعدَ الوَفا

وَنقضتَ عَهدي يا علي

You betrayed me after loyalty

And broke your covenant, O Ali

وَغضبتَ مِن بَعد الرضا

وَهجرتني الهَجر الجلي

And got angry after pleasure

And deserted me with clear desertion

وَرجعت للتيه الَّذي

هُوَ فيكَ طَبعٌ أَوّلي

And returned to the confusion which

Is in you an original nature

وَرغبت عَني في الهَوى

لِلّائمين العُذَّل

And turned away from me in love

To the blamers, the excuses

قُل لي فَإِن حَشاشَتي

تَلفَت وَجسمي قَد بلي

Tell me, for my consciousness

Is confused and my body is worn out
