How sweet the wine—and his dark lips its admixture!
Its radiance has coursed through my heart; and it is my custom:
Fill the cup; heed no censor.
For vanquishing the censor is my affair and my wont.
A virgin wine, aged since long ago,
has banished my anguish and diminished my pains.
Who would blame me if, despite myself, I cast restraint aside
for my beloved? Whoever does denies the torments I bear.
