لشيخي في ختان أَبي التَهاني
أَمين نجله حظٌّ عَظيمُ
For my shaykh, at the circumcision of Abū al-Tahānī,
Amīn—his son, a magnificent blessing.
وَفي أَفراحه عَمّا قَليل
سُرور لا يُغادره نَعيم
And amid his festivities, before long,
there will be joy whose bliss never departs.
لَكَ البُشرى بِهِ ما لاحَ بَدرٌ
بمصر لَهُ وَما لمعت نُجوم
Glad tidings are yours through him, as long as a full moon shines
for him in Egypt, and as long as stars glitter.
وَما قالَ الصَفا للمجد أَرّخ
ختان محمد عزٌّ يَدوم
And from what Purity said to Glory, record the date:
“Muḥammad’s circumcision—glory endures.”
