مِن الواجب المَكتوب وَهوَ صَلاتي

مَديحي لإِسماعيل بَعدَ صلاتي

From obligatory written duties is my prayer

My praise of Ismail after my prayer

وَشُكري لِلأنجال فرضٌ مقرّرٌ

أَقوم بِهِ في مصر طُول حَياتي

And my thanks to the youths is a duty I must fulfill

Throughout my life in Egypt

فَأَما ثَنائي عَن حسين فَكاملٌ

بِما قَد حَواه مِن بَديع صِفات

As for my praise of Hussein, it is complete

With what he encompassed of wonderful traits

بَديع صِفات فيهِ قلّ اِجتِماعُها

بِقائد جَيش النَصر في الغَزوات

Wonderful traits in him, rarely found together

In the leader of the army of victory in raids

بَديع صِفات فيهِ يَنقلُ بَعضَها

لَنا عَدلُه الشافي بِنَص ثقات

Wonderful traits in him, some of which

Are conveyed to us by his just governance and trusted sources

وَيَحملها عَنهُ النَسيم مَتى سَرى

لِينشرها مِنهُ عَلى عَرَفات

And the breeze carries them about him wherever it blows

To spread them from him over the hills

وَيَسعى بِها الراوي إِلى كُل بُقعة

فَيصبح فيها نافذ الكَلِمات

And the relater hastens with them to every spot

Where his words penetrate

فَيا لَكَ مِن صَدر تَأَهلت في الهَنا

بِمَصر فَنالَت أَرفَع الدَرَجات

Oh what a chest you have qualified yourself with in Egypt

To attain the highest ranks

وَأَشرَقَت الدُنيا بِأَنوارك الَّتي

أَضاءَت لَنا في السَهل وَالفلوات

And the world shone with your lights that

Illuminated the plains and deserts for us

وَأَنعَشتَ بِالأَفراح أَرواح أُمة

وَجودك فيها أَعظَم الحَسَنات

And you revived with joys the souls of a nation

Your existence in it is the greatest blessing

وَفاضَ عَلى الأَوطان بَحرُ مَكارمٍ

مَدى الدَهر يَجري مِن جَزيل هِبات

And an ocean of generosity overflowed the homelands

Flowing eternally with ample gifts

وَحسبك مِن أَبناء عَصرك أَنَّهُم

لَهُم فيك ما يُتلى بِكُلِّ لُغات

And it is enough for the sons of your time that

They have in you what is recited in all languages

وَأَنَّهُم حلّوا سُطور طُروسهم

بِأَنفس ما يَهدي لِخَير وُلاة

And that they threaded their treatises

With the finest gifts for the best governors

فَبادر إِلى ما فيهِ لِلنَفس نُزهة

وَلا تَخش بَعد الآن كيد وشاة

So embark upon what entertains the soul

And do not fear after this the plotting of haters

فَقَد غَردت فَوقَ الغُصون بَلابلٌ

وَغَنَت لَكَ الوَرقا عَلى أَثلات

For songbirds have trilled above the branches

And tree leaves sang poems to you

وَقامَت عَلى دَوح السُرور عَنادلٌ

تَصحح مِنها لَحنَها بأناة

And nightingales stood on the branch of joy

Correcting their melodies with patience

وَمالَت قُلوب العالَمين جَميعها

إِلَيكَ بِرَوض الأنس رغم عداة

And the hearts of all people inclined

Toward you in the meadow of intimacy despite enemies

وَقَد بَسَطو راحاتهم في دعائهم

بِطُول بَقاء في دَوام ثَبات

And they stretched out their palms in their prayers

For the lengthening of your enduring stability

وَنَصر وَتَأَييد لِأَكرم دَولة

بِها كُل شَيء وافر البَرَكات

And support and aid for the most honorable state

Through which everything is abundantly blessed

وَقالَت لَكَ العَلياء شَأني كَما تَشا

بِأَنجب صيد كَالأُسود كُماة

And the Most High said to you, my status is as you desire

With the finest catch like lions in wait

وَذَلِكَ بِالتَصريح مِنها بشارة

رَواها عَلى التَحقيق بَعض رُواة

And this is explicitly a prophecy from her

Conveyed by one of the relators after verification

وَهَناكَ بِالتَأهيل مَجدي مُؤرِّخاً

زَواج حسين بِالمَسَرة آتي

And there my praise records

The impending marriage of Hussein to the happy one
