1. عام عَلى مصر السَعيد جَديدُ

    بِاليسر جاء وإنه لسعيدُ

    A new joyous year has dawned upon blessed Egypt

    It came with ease, and how joyous it is!

  2. وَالنيل فاض وَعَن قَريب يَرتَوي

    مِنهُ بِحيرةُ قطرها وَصَعيد

    The Nile has overflowed, and soon it will quench

    The thirst of its valley and plateau from its droplets

  3. وَالأَرض بَعد الرَي تَلبس حلةً

    خَضراء وَالغُصن الرَطيب يَميد

    After being irrigated, the land wears a

    Green dress, and the soft branch sways gently

  4. وَبيمن هَذا الداوريّ وَعَدله

    مصرٌ إِلى عَهد الشَباب تَعود

    With the justice and fairness of this regent

    Egypt returns to the era of its youth

  5. أَوَ لَيسَ أَن اللَه أَيَّدَها بِهِ

    في عَصرِنا فَأَعَزَّها التَأييد

    Has not God supported it through him

    In our time, so His support has made it mighty?

  6. يا أَيُّها النيل المُبارك أَنتَ في

    زَمَن الوَفاء لَدى الأَنام حَميد

    O blessed Nile! In the age of loyalty

    You are praised among all people

  7. لَكن أَبو العليا سَعيد دائِماً

    لِلبَذل بَحر وافر وَمَديد

    But Abu Al-Elya Saied is always

    An abundant sea of continuous generosity

  8. شتان بَينك يا عَزيز وَبَينه

    في نَفعنا وَلَوَ اَنَّهُ مَحمود

    What a difference between you, O dear one, and him

    In benefiting us, even though he is praiseworthy

  9. هُوَ لَم يَزُر في العام إِلّا مرّةً

    بِتكدّرٍ مِنهُ الصَفاء يَزيد

    He only visited once during the year

    With some bitterness that increased purity

  10. وَمياه برّك كُل يَوم بيننا

    بَيضاء صافية لَها تَجديد

    While every day, the waters of your blessings are among us

    White, pure, renewing themselves

  11. وَنَداك يا صَدر المَكارم لَم يَزَل

    يَحيا بِهِ متقرّب وَبَعيد

    And your call, O most generous one, has not ceased

    Bringing life through it to those near and far

  12. لا زلت في تَخت الصَدارة قائِماً

    تَنهى وَتأمر وَالعدوّ طَريد

    You still stand at the seat of authority

    Commanding, ordering, and driving away the enemy

  13. وَتصدّ عَنا بِالعَساكر طامِعاً

    يَسعى وَباب رَجائه مَسدود

    With armies you deter the greedy aggressor

    Who strives whilst his hopes are barred

  14. وَتَمد مَصراً بِالخُصوبة وَالغِنى

    في خَير عَصر أَنتَ فيهِ فَريد

    And you provide Egypt with fertility and wealth

    In the best era where you are unmatched

  15. وَتَعيش فيها لِلتَمدن ناشِراً

    أَعلامه يُثني عَليك مُجيد

    And you spread the banners of civilization in it

    While the eulogizer praises you

  16. يُثني عَليك ثَناء عَبد شاكر

    بِفَرائدٍ هِيَ للجمان عُقود

    The praise of grateful Abd al-Shakur praises you

    With masterpieces that are strung into necklaces

  17. بِفَرائد مِن بَحر مَجدك أُخرجت

    وَبِها تَحلَّى لِلدفاتر جيد

    Masterpieces extracted from the sea of your glory

    With which the notebooks are adorned

  18. ما سرت في وَسط المَواكب راكِباً

    مَتنَ السُعود كَما تَشا وَتُريد

    You have not ridden amidst processions

    Atop the litter of good fortune however you wish

  19. وَنَثَرتَ مَيمنةً وَمَيسرةً بِها

    ذَهَباً كَثيراً ما لَهُ تَحديد

    And scattered right and left with it

    Plentiful gold that has no limit

  20. وَقَد اِغتَنى يَومَ الهَنا بِنثاره

    مِن آل مَصرك سادةٌ وَعَبيد

    The day of celebration was enriched by its scattering

    Among the elite and commoners of your Egypt

  21. وَجبرت كَسر العالمين بَرأفةٍ

    مِنها تَعجَّب أَشيب وَوَليد

    With kindness you mended the fracture of both worlds

    At which old and young marvel

  22. وَعَفوت عَن جانٍ أَتى متضرعاً

    لِلدَمع مِنهُ بخده أُخدود

    You pardoned a soul who came pleading

    With tears carving valleys in his cheeks

  23. وَنصرت دين الحَق بِالجُند الَّذي

    يَخشاه عِندَ هُجومه عِربيد

    And you supported the religion of truth with armies

    Before whose assault the mighty tremble

  24. أَو ما بذكرِك مَع أَبيك تَرنموا

    فَيُقال أَحسن طارف وَتَليد

    Do you not sing, mentioning you and your father

    So it is said: “What an excellent rhyme and rhythm!”

  25. أَو ما سَما طوسن الوَزير كَأَصله

    بِالفَضل وَالفرعُ الذَكيُّ يَسود

    Or has not Tusun the vizier risen like his origin

    To excellence, and the intelligent branch dominates?

  26. أَو ما جَلست عَلى الخَليج بقبةٍ

    فيها الوَقار حَليفُه التَمجيد

    Or have you not sat by the Gulf in a dome

    Wherein dignity is accompanied by glory?

  27. وَأَمرت بِالإِفراج عَن ماء لَنا

    أَعياه حَبسٌ بِالجُسور شَديد

    And ordered the release of water for us

    That was severely barred by dams

  28. فَانساب ما بَين الرُبوع بسرعة

    في زينة وَالحاضرون شُهود

    So it flowed rapidly among the meadows

    In beauty, as those present bear witness

  29. وَبِيَوم مَوسمه وَلَيلة جَبره

    بِالنار أُحرَق ماردٌ وَمَريد

    And on the day of its festival and the night of its fullness

    A rebel and heretic were burned by fire

  30. وَمِن المدافع بِالأَوامر زَمجرت

    في الجَوّ بَين الشاطئين رُعود

    The cannons roared in the air between the two banks

    With your orders, like thunder

  31. وَإِلَيهِ قَد صعدت صَواريخٌ لَها

    ضوء بَديع اللَون وَهوَ جَديد

    Rockets ascended towards it, having

    A beautiful novel light and color

  32. وَتَعددت فيهِ البُدور وَبدرُه

    مِن قبل هَذا مُفرد وَوَحيد

    Its houses multiplied, while before it

    Its full moon was singular and alone

  33. وَجرت عَلى سَطح المِياه زَوارق

    فيها المغنِّي لِلغناء يُجيد

    Boats sailed upon the surface of the waters

    Aboard which a singer aptly sings

  34. وَالناي يأَلفها الكمنجُ وَرقها

    يَحلو بِه قانونها وَالعُود

    The flute is befitted by the trilling of its reeds

    Sweetly suited to its melody and the lute

  35. وَالناس يَنتجعون ساحتك الَّتي

    ظِلُّ السَخاء بِرَوضها مَمدود

    And the people enjoy your field

    Shaded by the shadow of generosity spread wide

  36. وَسُرورهم بِالمَهرجان يَزيدهم

    شُكراً لملكٍ أَنتَ فيهِ عَميد

    Their happiness with the festivities increases

    Their gratitude to a king in whom you trust

  37. وَجَميعهم يمسي وَيُصبح راتعاً

    في رَوضة مِقياسها مَشهود

    All of them spend the night and wake up

    In a meadow whose extent is witnessed

  38. وَيود أَن تَبقى لمصر تسوسها

    طُول الزَمان وَحَبَّذا التَخليد

    And they wish that you would remain ruling Egypt

    For all time – and how excellent eternalness is!

  39. وَتَدوم فيها راضياً عَن أُمّة

    أُخِذت عَلَيها مِن علاك عُهود

    Remaining pleased with a nation

    That took covenants upon itself for your sake

  40. وَتَظل تَسمَع في التَهاني مدحة

    مِن خادم لَك صدقُه مَعهود

    And remain hearing amidst the congratulations a eulogy

    From a servant whose truthfulness is well-known to you

  41. مِن خادم في الجَبر قال مؤرخاً

    جَبَرَ الخَليج الداوريُّ سَعيد

    From a servant who, in composing history, has said:

    “The Nile Valley was repaired by Saied.”
