يا خَير مَولود لِأَشرَف والدِ

وَأَجل مَسعود بِمَجدٍ تالدِ

O best of those given birth, to the noblest father,

And most auspicious, blessed with enduring glory,

بُشراك يا رَب الذَكاء بِبضعةٍ

لاحَت كَشمس تَزدَري بِفَراقد

Good tidings to you, O Lord of intellect, for a girl

Has shone like a sun disdaining parting,

وَبَدَت مُتوّجة بِتاج مَحاسن

يَزهو سَناها في سَماء مَحامد

And appeared crowned with a diadem of beauties,

Its youth blooming in a sky of praises,

فَسَمَت بِطَلعَتِها عَلى أَترابِها

في يَوم أنسٍ بِالمَسرة عائد

With its rising over its peers

On a day of intimacy, returning in joy,

وَالسَعد في المِيلاد قال مُؤرِّخاً

جاءَت حَميدة مِن كَريم ماجد

And good fortune in birth, the chronicler said

A praiseworthy one came from a generous glorious one,

وَرقت بِأَفضل نسبةٍ مَرفوعة

لَكَ في البَرية يا مَلاذ الوافد

She budded with the finest high lineage

For you among all humanity, O refuge of the visitor,

يا مَن بِفطنتك الرياضة لَم تَزَل

تَعلو بِأَعمالٍ وَحُسن فَوائد

O you whose discernment and cultivation never ceased

To rise with deeds and excellent benefits,

وَبِكَ المَعارف وَالعُلوم تَرشحت

بِرَسائلٍ مَشحونة بِفَرائد

And through you knowledge and sciences poured forth

With missives laden with gems,

وَبِكَ المُروءة يا اِبن إِبراهيم قَد

نَشرت لِواها فَوقَ هامة قاصد

And through you, O son of Abraham, chivalry

Has spread its banners above the endeavoring throng,

لا زلت مَشمولاً بِنعمة شاكر

شُكراً يَزيد عَلى الدَوام وَحامد

You remain covered in blessing, thanking,

Thanks that increase forever, and praising,

ما فازَت الطُلاب مِنكَ بِحكمة

يَمنيةٍ فيها الرَشادُ لِفائد

How the students won wisdom from you,

Rightly guiding, containing benefit.
