1. ثغور التهاني للعَزيز بواسمُ

    وَأَيامه بيض الليالي مَواسمُ

    The gates of congratulations to the honored one, O my friend,

    And his days are the brightest of nights, seasons,

  2. وَأَفنان أَدواح التمدّن غرّدت

    بمصر عَلَيها للأنام حَمائم

    The birds of civilization's gardens have chirped

    With Egypt, for all people, doves,

  3. فَأَما المَباني فَهيَ في حسن نَظمِها

    بُروجٌ لأفلاك السَماء تُزاحم

    The buildings are arranged beautifully,

    Like spheres competing with the heavens' mansions,

  4. وَفي الأَرض للأَبصار تَبدو كَواكب

    مِن الغاز للبدر المُنير تنادم

    On earth, they appear to the eyes like stars

    Accompanying the bright full moon.

  5. وَأَما تقاسيم المِياه فنفعها

    عَميم وَفيها للعباد مَراحم

    The water divisions are beneficial for all

    And merciful to the servants,

  6. وَمِنها بَساتين القُصور تَفتَّحت

    مِن الوَرد بَعدَ الرَيِّ فيها كَمائم

    Gardens of palaces have blossomed

    With roses after watering, like flags.

  7. وَأَما المَيادين الَّتي قَد تجددت

    وَلاحَت عَلَيها للفخار عَلائم

    As for the fields renewed,

    Adorned with pottery symbols,

  8. فأَشرفها السامي بذكر محمد

    عليّ الَّذي هابَت لقاه الضَراغم

    The highest is named after Muhammad,

    Whom the victorious lions fear to face.

  9. وَمِنها الَّذي في عابدين قصوره

    لَها السَعد طُول الدَهر في مصر خادم

    Among them are the palaces in Abdeen,

    Which have good fortune in Egypt forever serving,

  10. وَمِنها الَّذي في الأَزبكية زانه

    بَهاء وَحلَّى ما حَواه مناظم

    Among them is the beautiful Azbakeya,

    Adorned with splendor inside its fences.

  11. وَكَيفَ وِللتفريح فيهِ ملاعبٌ

    بهنَّ سُرور للبرية دائم

    It has amusement parks

    Where the wilderness always finds joy,

  12. وَقصر وليّ العَهد فيهِ كَأَنَّهُ

    بِما حَولَهُ فَوق المَجرّة قائم

    And the crown prince's palace is like

    It's standing above the galaxy.

  13. وَفيهِ سرايات وَفيهِ حَدائق

    وَفيهِ لإحياء الفُنون مَعالم

    It has small palaces, gardens,

    Landmarks for the revival of arts,

  14. وَفيهِ دُروب تَنتَهي بمنازل

    بِها للقرى يَسعى نَزيل وَقادم

    Paths leading to houses

    Where residents and visitors head,

  15. وَهَيهات يُحصي بَعض ما فيهِ ناثر

    وَيحصره بِالعدّ في النَظم ناظم

    But how can a composer enumerate some of its features

    And limit them in poetry, O composer?

  16. وَفي الجيزة الغرّا أَجلّ سراية

    بِهِ للملا في كل وَقت وَلائم

    In Giza, the splendid, is the finest palace,

    Suitable for the king at all times.

  17. وَمَيدانها الأَسنى وَقَد فاقَ بِالرضا

    تشير إِلَيهِ بِالبَنان الرَواسم

    Its oval field has surpassed

    With satisfaction, to which guides point.

  18. وَرَوض سرايات الجَزيرة لَم يَزَل

    بِأَبدع ما قَد شيدته الخَضارم

    The gardens of the island's palaces have not ceased

    To be the most wondrous ever built by conquerors.

  19. وَكُل مَكان في فَضاه عمارة

    تسيل بمصر مِن سَماها الغَمائم

    Each place in its expanse is a landmark

    With Egypt's clouds pouring from its sky.

  20. وَأَما أَخاديد الحَديد فَإِنَّها

    قَد اِنتَشرت في القطر مِنها مَغانم

    The iron rails have spread

    Throughout the country, gains from them,

  21. وَراجَت بِها بَعد الكَساد تجارةٌ

    لَها اليُمنُ في ظل الأمان مسالم

    Trade has flourished through them after recession,

    With prosperity under the wing of peace.

  22. وَقَد غرست في جانبيها بحكمة

    لتوصيل أَخبار البَرايا قَوائم

    Along its sides, trees have been planted wisely

    To transport news of the lands,

  23. وَأَما أَراضي مصر فهي جَميعها

    لَها الخصب في هَذا الزَمان مُلازم

    The fortresses' cannons have become

    Bombarding the fleets.

  24. وَفيها مِن الخلجان تجري جَداول

    وَتَنساب في الوديان مِنها أَراقم

    The walls have gun embrasures

    With lightning strikes against corrupters,

  25. وَفي مدّة التحريق من كل آلة

    بخارية بالماء يصلح عادم

    They have men like mountains, around them

    Lions, and behind the lions veteran warriors.

  26. وَمِن دونها للحفظ في كل بقعة

    جسور لتيار المياه تقاوم

    The honored one's administrations have risen

    To uphold justice, pillars have supported them.

  27. وَفَوق المَجاري وَالمَساقي قَناطر

    عَلى سطحها الأَعلى تجوز العَوالم

    Whoever hopes for prosperity from the ministry of interior

    Is met with abundant good, its sea is turbulent.

  28. وَأَبوابها في الري تفتح تارة

    وَتغلق طوراً إِن تراكم عارم

    For it is in the state of glory alone

    Each administration has a chief and ruler.

  29. وعندَ انصراف الماء تنمو ببهجة

    زروع عَلَيها لِلفَلاح مَراسم

    The interior has acquiesced and found guidance

    By its direction, both nomads and foreigners.

  30. وَيَجتمع المَحصول جَمع سلامة

    وَتنهلّ في الأَمصار مِنهُ سَواجم

    Sharif's intellect, its heaven's light,

    Protects its rulings from the maze of illusion.

  31. وَأَما مَنيعات الحُصون فقد غَدَت

    مَدافعُها للراسيات تصادم

    The ministry of war has steadfastness

    Supported at times of adversity by resolute heroes.

  32. وَفي كامل الأَسوار مِنها مَزاغل

    صَواعقها للمفسدين رَواجم

    Its brave soldiers have severe assaults

    On those who fight tyrannically while oppressing.

  33. وَفيها رِجال كَالجِبال وَحَولَها

    ليوثٌ وَمِن خَلف الليوث قَشاعم

    Its hawks in land and sea are always

    Circling over the enemy's head ready to swoop.

  34. وَأَما دواوين العَزيز فَإِنَّها

    قد ارتفعت للعدل فيها دَعائم

    All who enter the treasury thank

    Its spending of funds suitably,

  35. فمن أمّ ديوان المعية راجياً

    رَفاهيةً فاضَت عَلَيهِ المَكارم

    The loyal vizier has shown skill in it

    With which every heart is amazed.

  36. وَقوبل مِنهُ في رياض نضيرة

    بوافر خير بحرُه مُتلاطم

    Establishing the education ministry testifies

    That the reviver of education is determined,

  37. لما أنه في دَولة المَجد وَحده

    عَلى كُل ديوان رَئيس وَحاكم

    And that adorning oneself with knowledge is a virtue

    By which the noble and learned rise to glory.

  38. وَقَد أَذعَنَت للداخلية وَاِهتَدَت

    بإرشادها أَعرابها وَالأَعاجم

    And reach the height of honor under

    Its blessed management, talismans disappear,

  39. وَعقلُ شَريفٍ وَهوَ نُورُ سَمائِها

    لِأَحكامها مِن غَيهَب الوَهم عاصم

    Knowledge spreads throughout Egypt

    And the pillar of ignorance is toppled by serious effort.

  40. وَفي نَفس ديوان الجِهاد صَرامة

    تؤيدها عِندَ الخطوب الصَوارم

    Youths dress in the coolness of knowledge

    By its teaching, the schools’ faces smile.

  41. وَصَولة أَبطال الجيوش شَديدة

    عَلى مَن تصدّى لِلوَغى وَهوَ ظالم

    Especially in the ruling state

    With Ismael's rain accumulating,

  42. وَشاهينها في البر وَالبَحر دائِماً

    عَلى هامة الأَعداء بِالحَتف حائم

    Without doubt, foreign affairs has become

    With its management on its course, not quarreling,

  43. وَكل لديوان الخَزينة شاكر

    عَلى صَرفه الأَموال فيما يُلائم

    It has a sword like Dhu al-Faqar

    Striking the backs of tyrants' supporters.

  44. وَقَد أَبرَز الصدّيق فيهِ مَهارة

    بِها كُل قَلب في الحَقيقة هائم

    How many times has it succeeded in regulating the most splendid city

    With the public works administration's determination.

  45. وَإنشاء دِيوان المَدارس شاهد

    عَلى أَن محيي دارس العلم حازم

    How mosques' light has increased with endowments

    Where those fasting pray freely at night.

  46. وَأَن التَحلي بِالعُلوم فَضيلة

    يَسود بِها منا نَبيل وَعالم

    The treasury's provisions have been extended to collect

    According to the noble Sharia, firmly held.

  47. وَيبلغ شأو العز تَحت إِدارة

    مُباركة مِنها تَزول الطَلاسم

    It goes without saying that the police proceed vigilantly

    Againwith no critic praising a blamer.

  48. وَيَنتَشر العرفان في مصر كُلِّها

    وَيَهدم رُكن الجَهل بِالجَدّ هادم

    Abu Hafs is among them, his nature

    Is justice that resolves all conflicts.

  49. وَترفل في بُرد المَعارف فَتيةٌ

    بِتعليمها وَجه المَكاتب باسم

    The council system's wisdom is

    Wrongs are repelled through it when litigants dispute.

  50. وَلا سِيَما في دَولة داورية

    بِها غَيث إِسماعيلها مُتراكم

    The king's private council's decisions

    End disputes, unmatched by courts.

  51. وَلا شك أَن الخارجية أَصبَحَت

    بتدبيرها في سيرِها لا تخاصم

    Suffice it the honor that his command

    Resolves all conflicting interests decisively,

  52. وَمِنها بحدّي ذي الفَقار مضارب

    لظهر محامي كل باغ قَواصم

    And that he draws from Ragheb's opinions

    Swords flexible in adversity.

  53. وَكم نجحت في نَظم أَبهى مَدينة

    لِديوان أَشغال المباني عَزائم

    In truth and in judgments, the keeper Hafiz

    Clarifies when opponents argue then litigate.

  54. وَكَم زادَ بِالأَوقاف نُور مَساجد

    يصلِّي بِها ما شاء في اللَيل صائم

    Tell of the parliament council, for it

    Is tasked with Egypt's spoils.

  55. وَأَرزاق بَيت المال مدّت لقبضها

    عَلى موجب الشَرع الشَريف مَعاصم

    Abdullah's thoughts as its president

    Are set on improving the country.

  56. وَناهيك أَن الضبط يمضي بيقظة

    عَلى اللَوم فيها لَيسَ يُحمَدُ لائم

    The inspection department is significant

    It addresses all problems definitively.

  57. وَفيهِ أَبو حفص لَهُ كسميِّه

    مِن العَدل ما يُمحَى لَديهِ التفاقم

    The Khedive's private department has selected

    The foremost in minds and determination.

  58. وَحكمة ترتيب المَجالس أَنَّها

    تُرَدّ بِها للعالمين المَظالم

    The departments of the children, Sadiq

    Manages with rigor, strict.

  59. وَفي مَجلس الملك الخصوصي يَنتَهي

    نجاز الَّذي ما أَنجزته المَحاكم

    Books have elegance in the press

    With its emulation in calligraphy, the copyist is concerned.

  60. وَحسبُك تَشريفاً لَهُ أَن أَمره

    لكل نزاع في المَصالح حاسم

    Letters and shapes containing it

    Have praised its uprightness, accompanying it.

  61. وَأَن لَهُ مِن بَعض آراء راغبٍ

    سيوفاً لَها في الصَعب لانت شكائم

    Its validity was supported by evidence

    That an understanding person bites onto.

  62. وَفي الحَق بِالأحكام يصدع حافظٌ

    مَتى اِختَصم الأخصام ثم تَحاكموا

    Hussein was praised in it for his conduct

    By Hejaz, Syria, Iraq, and the Abode of Peace.

  63. وَعَن مَجلس النوّاب حدّث فإنه

    مَنوط بِما فيهِ لمصر الغَنائم

    If I were to become all tongues

    And unleash them in necessary matters,

  64. وَأَفكارُ عَبد اللَه وَهوَ رَئيسه

    عَلى رَوض تحسين البِلاد حَوائم

    And race in the field praising Abu al-Feda

    With the swift steeds of eloquence having reins,

  65. وَمصلحة التَفتيش وَهيَ جَسيمة

    يحلّ بِها كُل المَشاكل راسم

    I would fall short of enumerating some

    Of the celebrated virtues in registers.

  66. وَدائرة الذات الخديوية اِجتَبى

    لَها مِن أُولى الأَلباب وَالعَزم قاسم

    O king who revived the deeds of his father

    The feats of which acknowledged superiority,

  67. وَدائرة الأَنجال قد قام صادق

    بتدبيرها بَينَ الوَرى وَهوَ صارم

    And walked in the footsteps of his ancestor

    From whom noble souls have proliferated in Egypt,

  68. وَللكتب في دار الطِباعة رَونَق

    بِتقليده في الخَط يَهتمُّ راقم

    And accomplished in two days what

    Kings of an epoch, gone by, recoiled from,

  69. وَأَثنَت عَلى حسن اِستِقامة حالها

    حُروف وَأَشكال حَوَتها ملازم

    And established the pillars of inheritance, by which

    Countries have flourished and people delighted.

  70. وَصحتها قامَت عَلَيها أَدلة

    يعض عَليها بِالنَواجذ فاهم

    Remaining coercion in your righteous Egypt ceased

    And past extortions vanished.

  71. وَأَثنى عَلى حسني بِها في سُلوكه

    حجازٌ وَشام وَالعِراق وَدارم

    Boast of a king whose eye

    Is human, whose success in it is a companion.

  72. وَلَو أَنَّني أَصبَحت كلي ألسناً

    وَأَطلقتها في بَث ما هُوَ لازم

    Live with your most generous sons supported

    By mighty victory, the defiant's nose is bent.

  73. وَأَجريت في مضمار مدح أَبي الفِدا

    سَوابق أَفراس لَهنّ قوادم

    For what you have created in your bliss

    Is little compared to what Adam lived.

  74. لقصرت عَن إحصاء بَعض مَناقب

    بِها اشتهرت في الخافقين تراجم

    By God, had I not seen it

    While awake, not sleeping,

  75. فَيا ملكاً أَحيا مآثر والد

    لَهُ اِعترفت بالامتياز الملاحم

    I would have been, with falling short in describing its excellence

    Like one dreaming to one who did not witness it.

  76. وَسارَ عَلى منوال جدّ تناسلت

    بمصر لَنا مِنهُ صدورٌ أَكارم

    Were it not for you, the wished-for homeland would not

    Have found refuge, with a heart pure in affection protecting it.

  77. وَأَنشأ في يَومين ما عَنهُ أَحجمت

    مُلوكُ زَمانٍ عَهدُهُ متقادم

    Nor would you have raised its victory flag

    And averted from its inhabitants grave perils,

  78. وَشيد أَركان الوراثة فازدهت

    بِذلك أَوطان وسرّت أَناسم

    You are the excellent king by whom

    It reached the heavens since the banners folded over you.

  79. وَلم يَبقَ للتسخير في برّ مصره

    وَجود وزالت قَبل ذاكَ المَغارم

    In forbearance and valor, more clement than you is Hamphrey,

    In spending, more generous than you is Hatim.

  80. تَفاخر بِملك أَنتَ إِنسان عَينه

    بِدارٍ لَكَ التَوفيق فيها منادم

    You are the just imam and the rightly guided one

    To whom crowns then turbans bow down.

  81. وعش مَع بَنيك الأَكرمين مؤيداً

    بِنصرٍ عَزيزٍ أَنفُ شانيه راغم

    You are the one whose praise of your most high self

    Has described the first springs of poetry and epilogues.

  82. فإِن الَّذي أَبدعته في هنيهة

    عَلَيهِ يَسير ضعف ما عاشَ آدم

  83. وَتاللّه لَولا أَنَّني قَد رَأيته

    وَإِني ليقظان وَما أَنا نائم

  84. لَكنت مع التقصير في وصف شطره

    كَأَني لَدى مَن لَم يَعاينه حالم

  85. وَلولاك ما نالَ الأَمانيّ مَوطن

    لَهُ مِنكَ صَدرٌ خالص الودّ راحم

  86. وَلا رفعت لَولاك راية نصره

    وَلا دفعت عَن ساكنيه العَظائم

  87. وَأَنتَ لَهُ نعم المَليك الَّذي بِهِ

    سَما مُنذ ميطت عَن علاك التَمائم

  88. وفي الحلم والإقدام دونك أَحنَفٌ

    وَعمرو وفى الإنفاق دونك حاتم

  89. وَأَنتَ الإِمام العَدل وَالراشد الَّذي

    لَهُ تسجد التيجان ثم العَمائم

  90. وَأَنتَ الَّذي في مدح عَلياك قد صفَت

    مبادى دَواوين الثَنا وَالخَواتم
