1. سُرور الداوري وَهوَ السَعيدُ

    بِهِ تَحيا الرَعية وَالعَبيدُ

    The joy of Dawood Pasha, and he is the fortunate one,

    With him the commoners and servants thrive,

  2. وَما يَحيى وَجعفرُه العَميدُ

    لَهُ إِلّا كَبعض التابعينا

    And with Jafar his pillar of support alive,

    He has none but some followers.

  3. فَنعم الصَدرُ خَير الناس طرّا

    لَقَد أَحيا بِنَشر العَدل مَصرا

    So excellent is he, the best of people by far,

    He revived Egypt by spreading justice,

  4. فَنالَ بِذَلك الإِحسان أَجرا

    وَسادَ عَلى الصُدور الأَوّلينا

    And so gained reward through that benevolence,

    And prevailed over the foremost masters.

  5. هَلمّوا في نَهار المَهرجانِ

    وَأَيام المَسرّات الحِسانِ

    Come on the day of festival,

    And days of delightful pleasures,

  6. لِنَركُضَ في مَيادين التَهاني

    بِحُصن صارَ في مَصرٍ حَصينا

    Let's race in fields of congratulations,

    To a fortress made in Egypt impregnable.

  7. بِهِ نَجد الطوابي بِالمَدافعْ

    وَبِالأَبس الَّذي يَخشاه طامعْ

    With it we have canons in towers,

    And weapons that deter the covetous,

  8. وَبِالهَون الَّتي فيها المَنافعْ

    لَنا وَالضرّ لا يَخطي مَهينا

    And lances which bring benefits,

    While harm avoids the humble.

  9. بِنا نَسعى لِقَلعة خَير صَدرِ

    مَليك الناس مِن عَبد وَحرِّ

    With it we strive for the fortress of the best master,

    Ruler of people, free and bound,

  10. سَعيد الداوريِّ عَزيز مَصرِ

    أَثيل المَجد كنز الوافدينا

    Dawood Pasha, mighty one of Egypt,

    Peerless glory, treasure of newcomers.

  11. أَما وَأَبيه وَالسَبع المَثاني

    وَرَب البَيت وَالرُكن اليَماني

    By his father and the seven oft-repeated,

    And Lord of the House and the Yemeni corner,

  12. لَقَد نلنا بِهِ كُلَّ الأَماني

    وَسالمنا الزَمان وَما نَسينا

    With him we attained all wishes,

    And greeted time, nothing forgot.

  13. وَأَنعشنا بِهِ صَوتُ المَثاني

    فَهَل نَخشى صُروفاً لِلزَمان

    With him we revived the voice of singers,

    Shall we then fear the turns of time?

  14. وَكَيفَ وَما لَهُ في العَدل ثاني

    لَنا يبقيهِ رَب العالمينا

    How, when none matches him in justice,

    Our Lord will keep him, Lord of the worlds.

  15. لَنا يُبقيهِ في عز وَمجدِ

    بِطول الدَهر تَحتَ لِواء سَعدِ

    Our Lord will keep him in might and glory,

    For ages under the flag of fortune,

  16. وَلا برحت لَهُ الأَيام تبدي

    بِأَوقات الهَنا فَتحاً مُبينا

    And days have not ceased displaying,

    Times of joy, successive openings.

  17. وَلا زالت عَساكره بِعزمِهْ

    وَجودة رَأيِهِ وَسَديد حَزمهْ

    His armies still with his resolve,

    The excellence of his view and steady prudence,

  18. وشدّة بَأسهِ وَبَديع نَظمهْ

    تَدوس لِفَرط هَيبته العَرينا

    The intensity of his might and eloquent rhythm,

    Trample with awe’s excess the burrows.

  19. وَلا زلنا ندير كؤس بشرِ

    بِدَولته إِلى حَشر وَنَشرِ

    Still we pass the cup of joy,

    With his rule, until resurrection and scattering,

  20. وَنرفل دائِماً في ثَوب فَخرِ

    بِساحته الرَحيبة آمنينا

    And we are garbed evermore in pride’s robe,

    In his spacious, secure court.
