إِنَّ القداحَ أَمرُها عَجيبُ
الفَذُّ وَالتَوأَمُ وَالرَقيبُ
Truly, the affair of the gaming arrows is wondrous:
al-Fadhdh, al-Tawʾam, and al-Raqīb;
وَالحِلسُ ثُمَّ النافِسُ المُصيبُ
وَالمصفح المُشتَهر النَجيبُ
and al-Ḥils, then al-Nāfis, the unerring one;
and al-Muṣaffaḥ, renowned and noble;
ثُمَّ المُعَلّى حَظُّهُ التَرغيبُ
هاكَ فَقَد جاءَ بِها التَرتيبُ
then al-Muʿallā—its share is the coveted prize.
