مَولايَ لِم لم تَدعُ عَب

دَكَ عِند اِحضارِ المدامِ

My Master, why did you not invite

Your servant when you brought the wine?

أَعَرَفتَهُ من بَينِهِم

مُتَبَسِّطاً وَقتَ الطَعامِ

Did you recognize him among them,

Spreading out at meal time?

أَم قيلَ عَربَدَ ذات يَو

مٍ حين صارَ إلى المدامِ

Or did he chatter excessively one day

When he came to the wine?

أَم لَم يُساعِد حين مل

تَ إِلى الغلامَة وَالغلامِ

Or did he not help when you were

Inclined to the lads and the boys?

ان كُنتَ تَبخَل بِالطَعا

مِ فَكَيفَ تَبخَل بِالكَلامِ

If you are stingy with the food,

How can you be stingy with the words?

لَسنا نُحاوِل دَعوَةً

فَاِسمَح عَلَينا بِالسَلامِ

We are not trying an invitation,

So bid us peace.
