1. يا عائِبَ الأَعرابِ من جَهلِهِ

    لِأَكلِها الحَيّات في الطعمِ

    O you who blame the Bedouins for their ignorance,

    For the snakes eat them for their taste,

  2. فَالعُجمُ طولُ اللَيل حَياتِهِم

    تَنساب في الأُخت وَفي الأُمِّ

    While for the non-Arabs, the length of their night are their lives,

    Flowing into the sister and the mother.
