We are, by God, confused by your fickleness, O Jarjan,

My soul is in great perplexity and distress.

Its heat boils the hides; then if a north wind blows,

It is troubled by stillness and gloom.

Like a hypocritical lover who, whenever resolved

To unite, is deterred by aloofness.
