وَدِيارٍ تَشكو الزَّمانَ وَتُشكي

حَدَّثَتنا عَن عِزَّةِ ابنِ هَمُشكِ

Homes complaining of time and lamenting

Told us of the glory of Ibn Hamshuki

وَأُناسٍ عَتَوا عَلى الدَّهرِ حَتّى

هَبَّ في جَمعِهِم بِعاصِفِ هُلكِ

And people who rebelled against fate until

It blew among them with the storm of demise

طَالَما قَسَّموا لَدَيها رِقاباً

وَدِماءً عَلى خُضُوعٍ وَسَفكِ

Long they distributed there necks

And blood in submission and pouring

تَرَكُوا في الثَّرى الثَّراءَ وَخَلّوا

مُلكَهُم نُهبَةً لأَعظَمِ مَلكِ

They left in the ground enrichment and deserted

Their kingdom spoils to the greatest of kings

أَخَذوا حَظَّهُم مِنَ العِزِّ حَتّى

تَرَكُوهُ وَكُلُّ أَخذٍ لِتَركِ

They took their share of glory until

They left it and all taking is for leaving
