وَصاحِبٍ لِيَ لا كانَت طَبائِعُهُ
كَأَنَّها سُحُبٌ بِالسَرطِ مُنهَمِرَه
And I have a friend whose nature
Is like clouds pouring down hail.
إِذا أَحَسَّ بِمَأكولٍ تُقَدِّمُهُ
يَكادُ يَسبِقُ فيهِ حَلقُهُ بَصَرَه
When presented with something to eat,
His throat races ahead of his sight.
كَأَنَّ فاهُ عَصا مُوسَى إِذا اِنقَلَبَت
وَما تَقَدَّمَهُ إِفكٌ مِنَ السَحَرَه
It's as if his mouth were Moses' stick
Turning all before it to sorcery and lies.
