وَلَم أَرَ فيما تَشتَهِي العَينُ مَنظَراً
كَتُفّاحَةٍ في بِركَةٍ بِقَرارِ
Never, among all the sights the eye longs for, have I seen
One like an apple resting at the bottom of a pool:
يَفيضُ عَلَيها ماؤُها فَكَأَنَّها
بَقِيَّةُ خَدٍّ في اِخضِرارِ عِذارِ
Its water flows over it, so that it seems to be
A remnant of cheek amid the green of youthful beard-down.
