Why have rhymes been given importance, their blunders overlooked?
They have become haughty noses, stubborn palms.
How can the incorrect rhyme equate with the correct?
Or the crooked desire the path of the straight?
O how pitiful their defects are! In vain
Their skirts and tatters boast.
Wanderer Jari, it's just an opportunity,
Rather a coil flying its arrows at you.
When frogs in the marsh claim
The nightingale's song, their error shows.
And if dogs pretend to gracefully prance,
Their tails will comically trail between their legs.
O runner relying on his speed, don't boast
Of winning the race, for you'll never grasp it.
Defiance has no substance to you,
In your poetry, few are its men.
How can you say few are its men, when it is I
Who can build it up or tear it down?
My faults weaken me from aspiring,
The desert and its sands hinder my path up high.
Your stupid mother seldom cared for greatness,
Or rallied her men to obtain it.
To my toes was never bestowed a crown,
Or my heels offered shoes.
I asked my time about me, and it had
Tales corroborated by you to tell.
If literature is called hunting,
Then I am its Abu Ghaylan, its Bilal.
And by the authority of truth, I am its sun,
While you are the mirage, its delusion.
You have of it the bitter and forbidden,
While I have of it the sweet and lawful.
Had I freed it from its bond,
It would have walked the path of glory.
Intellect restrained it when it raved deliriously,
And reason curbed it when it wildly bolted.
I have clothed it in the garb of contentment,
So conscience is its cloak.
And if I propelled some of my arrows,
I would have emptied the mansions of the stars.
With my poems I have coated the arrows of injustice,
Spreading over their names their deeds.
I am the man who names poems for the unjust.
The worst of poems is to overlook them.
