قَدْ عَجِبَتْ لَبّاسَةُ المُصَبَّغِ

أَنْ لاَحَ شَيْبُ الشَعَرِ المُثَمَّغِ

The dyer's wife was astonished that the grey hair of the dyed one shone

And the bite of the blind dark-skinned one was severe after the prime of youth faded away

وَعَضَّ عَض الأَدْرَدِ المُثَغْثِغِ

بَعْدَ أَفَانِينِ الشَبابِ البُرْزُغِ

Rather, say to Abdullah, convey and be eloquent

Glorifying, knowing that I have not finished

بَلْ قُلْ لِعَبْدِ اللَّهِ بَلِّغْ وَابْلُغِ

مُسَبِّحاً يَعْلَمْ بِأَنْ لَمْ أَفْرُغِ

What I have lived of the most eloquent praise

So blow with a register of dewy cloud announcing

مَا عِشْتُ مِنْ حُسْنِ الثَنَاء الأَبْلَغِ

فَانْفُحْ بِسَجْلٍ مِنْ نَدىً مُبَلِّغِ

With the downpour of the west, the hospitable unloaded one

It is not like the meagre loaded little

بِمِدْفَقِ الغَرْبِ رَحِيبِ المَفْرَغِ

لَيْسَ كَإِيشاغِ القَلِيلِ المُوشَغِ

There is no mixing of contrived lies from you

After you all, do I seek

ما مِنْكَ خَلْطُ الكَذِبِ المُمَغْمَغِ

ما بَعْدَكُم أَلَ زِياد أَبْتَغِي

Anything while your hands are very generous

Giving from the Bountiful God’s abundance

شَيْئاً وَأَيْدِيكُمْ طِوالُ المَبْلَغِ

يُعْطِينَ مِنْ فَضْل الإِلهِ الأَسْبَغِ

Flowing charity and defence like the flood of dye

That dips those it has dipped in death

سَيْباً وَدُفّاعاً كَسَيْل الأَصْبَغِ

يَغْمِسْنَ مَنْ غَمَسْنَهُ فِي الأَهْيَغِ

If I could bear you, the busy is not like the free one

I knew that I am busy with the female weaver

لَوْ كُنْتُ أَسْطِيعُكَ لَمْ يُشَغْشَغِ

شِرْبِي وَمَا المَشْغُولُ مِثْل الأَفْرَغِ

I hope for your help, the most fitting

If the obstacle of captivity does not betray me

عَرَفْتُ أَنِّي ناشِغٌ فِي النُشَّغِ

إِلَيْكَ أَرْجُو مِنْ نَدَاك الأَسْوَغِ

So watch me and the soaked compressed one

I would choose smooth, short-haired, tall

إِنْ لَمْ يَعُقْنِي عائِقُ التَسَغْسُغِ

فِي الأَرْضِ فَارْقُبْنِي وَعَجْمَ المُضَّغِ

Filth to the land from its amusing crazy one

Abomination like the talk of the submitted smiling one

لَاجْتَبْتُ مَسْحُولاً جَدِيب الأَرْفُغِ

لِلأَرْضِ مِنْ جِنِّيِّهِ المُتَغْتِغِ

The talks of the romancer pleased me

As it shows the long-necked fools

رَجْسٌ كَتَحْدِيثِ الهَلُوكِ الهَيْنَغِ

لَذَّت أَحَادِيثَ الغَويِّ المِنْدَغِ

So know the sturdy firm ready one

With the firmness of (just like) a monk or solid oak

فَهْيَ تُرِي الأَعْلاَقَ ذاتَ النُغْنُغِ

فاعْسِفْ بِنَاجٍ كَالرَبَاعِ المُشْتَغِي

Throwing with the burning embers, no ash penetrated him

Wearing out the slipper, strong legged

بِصُلْبِ رَهْبَى أَوْ جَمادِ اليَرْبَغِ

يَرْمِي بِمَجْدُولِ الشَظَى لَمْ يُبْزَغِ

Darkening thePersistent fighter

Who misses after being chased away forcefully

مُسْتَقْرِعِ النَعْلِ شَدِيد الأَرْسُغِ

أَكْدَرَ لَفّافٍ عِنادَ الرُوَّغِ

And after the camel bellow of the skilled one

A blow like the hit of the desirous boy

يَشْتَقُّ بَعْدَ الطَرَدِ المُبَغْبِغِ

وَبَعْدَ إِيغافِ العَجَاجِ الهُنْبُغِ

So mention with goodness and chant what is appropriate

And beware the words of the hostile troublemakers

نَدْفاً كَإِيغافِ الغُلامِ المُرْتَغِي

فَاذْكُرْ بِخَيْرٍ وَابْغِنِي مَا يَنْبَغِي

I am not the shaken one

I am on the pattern of noble men

وَاحذَرْ أَقاوِيلَ العُداةِ النُزَّعِ

عَلَيَّ أَنِّي لَسْتُ بِالمُزَغْزَغِ

I rise and my honour is not degraded

With nonsense the bashful chaste one is unveiled

إِنِّي عَلَى نَسْغِ الرِجالِ النُسَّغِ

أَعْلُو وَعِرْضِي لَيْسَ بِالمُمَشَّغِ

To God belongs the merit of the gifted ones

And know, the opinion is not with harassment

بِالهَدْرِ تَكْشاشَ البِكارِ المُرَّغِ

لِلَّهِ دَرُّ المُحْدِثِينَ النُبَّغِ

That the words of the vicious trotter

Are a mess like the mess of lies

وَاعْلَمْ وَلَيْسَ الرَأْيُ بالتَبَيُّغِ

بِأَنَّ أَقوالَ العَنِيف المِفْشَغِ

I can leave the poet like the stutterer

Incomprehensible, not perceiving the sin of the sinner

خَلْطٌ كَخَلْطِ الكَذبِ المَضَغْضَغِ

قَد أَتْرُك الشاعِرَ مِثْل الأَلْثَغِ

And the snakes of afflictions have tasted the stung one

From me missiles of a piercing, blood-drawing blade

أَعْجَمَ لا يَغْرِفُ زَيْغَ الزُيَّغِ

وَذاقَ حَيّاتُ الدَوَاهِي اللُدَّغِ

That weakens the bones of the head if it does not crack

And hitting the face, despised cheekbones

مِنِّي مَقاذِيفَ مِدَقٍّ مِفْدَغِ

يُوهِي عِظامَ الرَأْسِ إِنْ لَمْ يَدْمَغِ

When disasters afflict him, he does not complain

And gave humiliation as the hand of the spinner

وَمُقْرِفِ الوَجْهِ لَئِيم الأَصْدُغِ

إِذَا البَلايَا انْتَبْنَهُ لَمْ يَصْدَغِ

And war is the foolishness of daring rams

Practicing violence with piercing

شَيْئاً وَأَعْطَى الذُلَّ كَفَّ المُرْزِغِ

وَالحَرْبُ شَهْباءُ الكِباشِ الصُلَّغِ

And it is the most humiliating of creeping creatures

So do not compare me with a usurper

يُمَارِس الأَعْضالَ بِالتَمَلُّغِ

وَهوَ أَذلُّ الشائِلات الوزَّغِ

Foolish or crazy shaken one

Called to the claim of the most eloquent one

فَلا تَقِسْنِي بِامْرِئٍ مُسْتَوْلِغِ

أَحْمَقَ أَوْ ساقِطَةٍ مُزَغْزَغِ

Weaker than uncured leather

And attachment is licked with the most attached talk

أَسْلَغَ يُدْعَى لِلدَعِيِّ الأَسْلَغِ

أَوْهَى أَدِيماً حَلِماً لَمْ يُدْبَغِ

If not for the blustering of its owner it would not appear

Associating with the ethics of the crazy polluted one

وَالمِلْغُ يَلْكَى بِالكَلام الأَمْلَغِ

لَولا دَبُوقاءُ اسْتِهِ لَمْ يَبْدَغِ

With jumping in scandals and wallowing

From the malice of that frequently committing tricky one

خالِطَ أَخْلاق المُجُونِ الأَمْرَغِ

بِالوَثْبِ فِي السَوْآتِ وَالتَمَرُّغِ

And the slave is the slave of charming behavior

Like dried meat, if squeezed it softens

مِنْ خُبْثِ ذاكَ المَثْبِرِ المُرَوِّغِ

وَالَعبْدُ عَبْدُ الخُلُقِ المُدَغْدَغِ

A companion of scandals and hungry bellowing

كَالفَقْعِ إِنْ يُهْمَزْ بِوَطْءٍ يُثْلَغِ

صاحِبُ سَوْآتٍ وَجُوعٍ هُنْبُغِ
