More desolate than Umm al-Yamani's abode
Whose belly rumbles loudly like thunder
Like a bent branch whose wood creaks
As if it were a rose dripping with scent
My complexion - even if a barren camel were to roar -
Is as if he had stretched out to us an amputated hand
Covered in bracelets or in rings
No hands reach out to us grasping
For what we have already attained, while others covet
Jinn and mankind applaud us
So praise the clan of Khindif with an exalting eulogy
