Beneath the mountains are lush meadows,

And upon the mountains are gardens and orchards.

The river in the valley flows like strands of silver,

Rushing onward toward which all things gravitate.

Behind these palaces and gardens,

Lies the beautiful charm of Paris in full radiance,

Appearing to all eyes in its splendor,

Like the sun unobscured by clouds.

What marvels are all these, Oh God!

United, with no discord between them.

Delight your gaze with nature, for it is

The best of times, with no fickleness.

Recalling loved ones makes us yearn,

And in their absence, we are distraught.
