وَيَومَ لَقينا الخَثعَمِيَّ وَخَيلَهُ

صَبَرنا وَجالَدنا عَلى نَهرِ صَرصَرا

And the day we met Al-Kuthami and his cavalry

We endured and fought fiercely by the Sarasar River

وَيَوماً تراني في رَخاءٍ وَغبطَةٍ

وَيَوماً تَراني شاحِبَ اللَّونِ أَغَبَرا

And one day you see me in comfort and joy

And one day you see me pale and dust-colored
