لَقَد زَعَمَ المُختارُ أَنّي وَصُحبَتي
بِمَسكِنَ قَد أَعيَت عَلَيَّ مَذاهِبي
Al-Mukhtar has claimed that I and my friends
Have wearied him with my constant visits
فَكَيفَ وَتَحتي أَعوَجِيٌّ وَصُحبَتي
عَلى كُلِّ جَهميمِ الثَميلَةِ شارِبِ
How so, when my camel is lame and my friends
Are drinking at every Thamilah well
إِذا ما خَشينا بَلدَةً قَرَّبَت بِنا
طَوالُ مُتونٍ مُشرِفاتُ الحَواجِبِ
When we approach a town, there come to meet us
Tall-girded maidens with alluring glances
