1. لمن الرُّسومُ تأبْدت بعُمان

    فبدت كخطّ مصاحف الرهبانِ

    For whom are the drawings immortalized in Oman

    Appearing like the lines of monks' scriptures

  2. دار لصفوةَ والخريدة رايةٍ

    وضمان قبل حوادث الأزمانِ

    An abode for the elite and the standard of al-Khuriydah

    And a guarantee before the tribulations of time

  3. بيض كواعبُ كالبدورِ نواعم

    لثنَ الرّياط على ذرى الكثبانِ

    White, shapely belles like shining full moons

    Twisting the myrtle on the sand dunes

  4. غيدُ الرِّقاب يزينُها مُقل المَها

    تحت الملا وسوالفُ الغُزلانِ

    Necks adorned, graced by the swaying gait

    Under the banners - the rhythms of the amorous

  5. يبِسمنَ عن كالأقحوان منورّاً

    سقيا الرَّذاذِ على نَقا سَفوانِ

    Smiling brightly like well-watered anemones

    Sated by the drizzle on the soft sands

  6. يَغدو العبيرُ بكل يومٍ صائكاً

    منهن بالأعكان والأردانِ

    The perfume rises every day, redolent

    From them in plains and valleys

  7. من كلِّ بارعةِ الجمال خريدةٍ

    فَرعاءَ واضحةٍ الجبينٍ هجانِ

    Of every graceful beauty al-Khuriydah has

    Radiant foreheaded, vivacious gazelles

  8. لمياءُ عَذبة مَبسمٍ وتكلُّمٍ

    غنّاءَ رَخصةَ مِعصمٍ وبَنانِ

    Sweet cool water, a blossoming smile and speech

    The singing of supple wrist and tapering fingers

  9. شَبعي الإَزار دَميجة رَبَلاتُها

    غرثَى الوشاح من الضُّمور حَصانِ

    Ample loose trousers, pleated hems

    Cloaks faded by withering horse-mounts

  10. وكأنما مالت بصعدةِ قدّهِا

    في مشيها صهباءُ بنتُ دَنانِ

    As though inclined on her sturdy neck

    In her gait, the blonde daughter of Danan

  11. مشمولةٌ كدمِ الذبيح سُلافةٌ

    تجلو ذكاءَ خوارقِ الأذهانِ

    Enveloped like sacrificial blood, sleek

    Revealing the brilliance of astute minds

  12. رَاحٌ إذا هُرقتْ وأشرق نورها

    سجدَ السَّقاةُ لها على الأذقانِ

    A meadow, when its flowers bloom and shine

    The rain-drawers bow down before it on their cheeks

  13. ولها هديرٌ في الدّنانِ كأنه

    نغمُ القُسوس قبُالة الصُّلبانِ

    It has a murmur in the thickets as though

    The psalmody facing the crucifixes

  14. فكأنها وكأنَّ رصعَ حُبابها

    ذهبٌ يرصَّعُ فوقه بجمانِ

    As if its bead strings resemble

    Gold embossed above with gems

  15. نازعتهُا النّدمانَ في متنزَّهِ

    حاكت مَطارفَه يدُ التَّهتانِ

    It rivals the meadows in the gardens

    Woven by the hand of the distracted lover

  16. فكأنَّ بهجته وغَضّ أرِاكهِ

    وجهُ الحبيبِ وقامة النُّشوانِ

    As if its vitality and the flush of its boughs

    Were the face of the beloved and the form of the tender sapling

  17. والماء مُندفقٌ تجعّده الصّبا

    وكأنه جارٍ بغير عِنانِ

    The gushing water wrinkled by the morning breeze

    As if flowing unbridled

  18. وتَنوفةٍ مثل السماءِ ذرعتُها

    بمذارعِ الشَّدَنيَّة المِذعانِ

    Spacious like the sky is its extent

    With the cultivated farms of al-Shadaniya

  19. عيرانةٍ رَعَت التنائف فاغتدتْ

    كمشيد قصرٍ باذخ الأركانِ

    Escorted, she grazed tranquility and became

    Like a towering palace of formidable pillars

  20. حَرفٍ لها عَنقٌ عَشيّةَ خِمسها

    تلوي بملعِ جَوافل الظَّلمانِ

    A fortress whose neck twists in the darkness of night

    Bending with the glimmer of the deep gloom

  21. عوجاءَ باذخة المُقَّلد جسرةٍ

    أدماءَ تنسف يَرمعَ الظّرَّانِ

    Tall, heavily necklaced, broad-chested

    Ruddy, with glittering eyes that pierce the dark

  22. جشَّمتُها جَوبَ الحزونِ فارقلت

    رَقلاً تشوب الوَخْدَ بالوَسجانِ

    Scar-tattooed by separation's affliction till she gleamed

    With a shimmer that penetrates the breastbone's hollow

  23. وكتيبةٍ خُزر العيون رددتها

    رغماً تبوءُ بذلةٍ وهوان

    A battalion whose deadly glances she deflected

    Through compulsion, alighting in humiliation and defeat

  24. ومدجَّجٍ قَصَعَ الكُماةَ بسيفه

    وقضى بجدعِ معاطس الشجعان

    Blood-stained fighter who clove the valiant warriors

    And ended the exploits of the brave heroes

  25. غادرته تحتَ العَجاجةِ جاثماً

    متلفّعاً ثوبَ النجيعِ القاني

    He left her under the balcony crouched

    Wrapped in the garb of the deeply-rooted palm

  26. بغرار أبيضَ صارمٍ ذي رونقٍ

    مثلي إذا نُسب السيوف يماني

    With a white straight sword of splendid sharpness

    When swords are attributed to me, Yemeni

  27. فغدا طعاماً للنسور وطالما

    ضَمِن الطعام لها وللعُقبانِ

    So he became food for vultures, for long

    He guaranteed food for them and the kites

  28. وهنُيدةٍ تملا الفلاءَ وهبتُها

    لمعّيٍم أوهاه ريبُ زمان

    Generous, she filled the horizon, I gifted her

    To Ma'ayyim, whom the misfortune of time made blind

  29. ورعالِ خيلٍ كالفضاءِ وزعتها

    تحت الأسنَّةِ والحتوفُ دواني

    Racehorses in the vastness I distributed

    Under saddlecloths at the raids of Dawani

  30. ولكم وهبتُ لشاعرٍ من شطبةٍ

    جرداء تمزُع ميعةً وحِصان

    And how often I gifted an eloquent poet

    A polished bay mare swift as an arrow

  31. سطوات كيْكَربٍ وهيبة حِميرٍ

    وجلالةٌ ومواهبُ النَّعمانِ

    The might of Kikarib and awe of donkeys

    Benevolence, gifts of An-Nu'man

  32. أنا سيد الأملاكِ غيرَ مُدافَعٍ

    وخلاصة الأقيالِ من قحطانِ

    I am the supreme lord without contention

    And essence of the judgments from Qahtan

  33. والمالكُ السلطانُ ابن المالك ال

    سلطان ابن المالكِ السلطانِ

    The King, Sultan son of the King

    Sultan son of the Sultanic King

  34. أمضى إذا اشتجرَ القنا من صارمي

    عزماً وأقدمُ من شَباةِ سِناني

    If the thickets bristle from my blade

    With resolve I venture from the canines of Sinan

  35. ومتى تسلْ بي تخبَرْنَ بالواهب ال

    مِتلاف والمِطعامِ والمِطعانِ

    When you inform me of the blessings, not

    Destruction, the food and weapons

  36. إذ كنت ذروة تاجَ مفرق يعربٍ

    وذؤابةَ الأملاكِ من غسان

    For I was the peak of honor for scattered Arabs

    And the wolf of realms from Ghussan

  37. قد يهلكُ المجرَ الأزبّ توعُّدي

    ويفوق غيداقَ الغَمام بَناني

    My threats may destroy the shining full moons

    And surpass the clouds' thunder in loftiness

  38. وإذا البديعُ من القَريضِ تغلَّقت

    أبواب مجْدِله على الأذهانِ

    And if the unique enchantment of poetry falters

    Its doors of glory shut on intellects

  39. ودعوُته ألقى المفاتحَ طائعاً

    طوعَ الذَّليل إلى العطيم الشانِ

    My call made the keys fall obedient

    With the yielding of the meek to the grand elite

  40. فاسألْ تَبَابعهً الملوك لتحقرنْ

    مَن كان يتبع من بني ذُبيانِ

    Ask those kings who paid me allegiance, and you will belittle

    Whoever followed the clan of Dhubyan

  41. وإذا تعاطى المالكونَ مراتبي

    قصرت ودون مَقامها النّسِرانِ

    And if sovereigns contend for my principles

    The eagles fall short of my status

  42. فمواهبي تترى بكلّ مَكانةٍ

    ومدائحي تتُلى بكلّ لسانِ

    For my gifts are seen in every position

    And my praises recited in every tongue
