عَن فِلقِ فَمٍ يُريكَ شهداً وَبَرَد
كَم ناوَلَني الرِضابَ من غَير حَرَد
From the opening of a mouth that reveals honey and hailstones,
how often he gave me its sweet nectar without reluctance!
فالآن وَقَد أَلِفتُ كالظَبي شَرَد
لَو لاحَ لَهُ عَكسيَ في الماءِ طَرَد
But now, once I had grown intimate with him, he bolted like a gazelle;
were my reflection to appear to him in the water, he would flee.
