A trivial thing I lost among men, a dullard, / Who was, even when present, truly missing.

Smiling conquered my grief the day he died, / And Death's decree regarding him proved wise.

O tenant of the tomb, whose bounty would embrace / The world—if only your vileness counted as grace.

You were fouler in scent than the grave when you entered, / And in life, you held more festering pus.

The basest of skulls, the most stammering tongue, / The scarcest in good deeds, the most withered bough.

You surrendered your long beard to the rot, / And settled there, unrewarded and unpraised.

Physicians reported your fatal disease / Was stupidity, from which a cure was far removed.

Your mind's decay infected your body, / And surely it will rot the tomb and the worms too.

His buttocks bequeathed their trade to his sons, / Who became, after him, dark harlots.

If they joined the shafts they’ve taken in end-to-end, / They would reach the heavens while sitting down.

The sons of Haydarah: smallest in soul, / In appearance, in character, and in luck.

Black, even if their whiteness dazzled the stars; / Few, even if they outnumbered the dust.

You are cursed by their nature: like a beautiful, / Miserly woman who cannot refuse a touch.

Something akin to nothing; were you among them / In a teeming army, you would be alone.

Exaggerate freely, for you speak truth in reviling them / In all things, save in defining their bounds.
