And a slender daughter of the bamboo reed, enclosing

A melon-fruit that sprouted from fire within a hand,

The Prince has strung for her a necklace of bright pearls,

Like his noble deeds and words within the gathered stand,

As when the mixture meets the cup, bringing to view

A foam that circles round upon a dark black draught.
