1. لم لا يُغاث الشعر وهو يصيحُ

    ويُرى منار الحق وهو يلوحُ

    Why is poetry left unsuccored while it cries aloud, and the beacon of truth is seen shining clear?

    O clique created from the very depths of darkness, huddle together in fear, for I am the blazing Sun.

  2. يا عصبة مخلوقة من ظلمة

    ضمُّوا جوانبكم فإني يُوح

    And should the tyranny of 'Aad spread amongst you, gaze upon my face, for I am the destroying Wind.

    O you who hew verses from your own falsehoods, poetry is recited, yet a foul stench wafts.

  3. وإذا فشا طغيان عادٍ فيكم

    فتأملوا وجهي فإني الريح

    I am he whom you know well; fawn or bark as you please—for the dog in the lion's wake does nothing but yelp.

    You are granted safety from my satire, for in your case, to be satirized is to be praised.

  4. يا ناحتي الأشعار من آباطلهم

    فالشعر يُنشدُ والصُنانُ يفوح

    And count it a favor that my robe is left to me; surely, after the theft of my poems, you have profited enough.

  5. أنا من علمتم بصبصوا أو فانبحوا

    فالكلب في إثر الهزبر نَبوح

  6. لكمُ الأمان من الهجاء فإنه

    فيمن به يُهجَى الهجاء مديح

  7. ويدٌ لكم تِركان ثوبي إنه

    من بعد سرق قصائدي مربوح
