The rhymes did not make you drowsy, rather
Truly, the rhymes did not merely lull you to sleep, but rather,
They exhausted you until you became non-existent
They effaced you until you became a thing that exists no more.
So it was as if your ear deceived you when you heard them
As if your ear became a mouth the moment you heard them,
And as if they were from what intoxicated the rested
And as if they were the sedative of your intoxication.
