1. فَدَتكَ الخَيلُ وَهيَ مُسَوَّماتُ

    وَبيضُ الهِندِ وَهيَ مُجَرَّداتُ

    May the branded battle-steeds ransom you with their lives,

    And the white blades of India, drawn and bare.

  2. وَصَفتُكَ في قَوافٍ سائِراتٍ

    وَقَد بَقِيَت وَإِن كَثُرَت صِفاتُ

    I have described you in rhymes that roam the earth,

    Yet virtues remain, though descriptions abound.

  3. أَفاعيلُ الوَرى مِن قَبلُ دُهمٌ

    وَفِعلُكَ في فِعالِهِمِ شِياتُ

    The deeds of mankind before were but dark steeds,

    While your deeds among them are the white stars of light.
