يا بَدرُ إِنَّكَ وَالحَديثُ شُجونُ
مَن لَم يَكُن لِمِثالِهِ تَكوينُ
O Full Moon—and truly, speech stirs the depths of the soul—
You are one whose equal Creation has never formed.
لَعَظُمتَ حَتّى لَو تَكونُ أَمانَةً
ما كانَ مُؤتَمَناً بِها جِبرينُ
You have waxed so mighty that, were you a sacred trust,
Not even Gabriel would have been entrusted to carry you.
بَعضُ البَرِيَّةِ فَوقَ بَعضٍ خالِياً
فَإِذا حَضَرتَ فَكُلُّ فَوقٍ دونُ
Some of mankind rise above others while you are absent,
But when you appear, all that is high is brought low.
