My rising lovers, why do you attack me
O you who desire my rise, what ails this blade of mine, / That it remains innocent of wounds, safe from the act of killing?
Innocent of wounding, safe from killing
I see a fragment of my own luster reflected in its sheen, / For the mastery of cleaving skulls lies in the mastery of the polish.
I see in my friend a piece in his friend
The verdant robe of life is won through that dark, iron hue, / Which revealed to you the crimson of death within its ant-track ripples.
And excellence of resolve in the excellence of polish
Cast aside your comparisons of me, your "somewhat" and "as if," / For there is no one above me, and no one is my equal.
And greenness of life's garb in the greenness that
Leave me alone with it, my noble steed, and my slender spear— / We become a single force to face the world, so witness what I do.
Showed you the redness of death in the valley of ants
Remove from me your comparison with what resembles
For no one is above me and no one is like me
And leave me and him and my glance and my fading
We will be one who encounters creation and see my actions
