وَوَقتٍ وَفى بِالدَهرِ لي عِندَ واحِدٍ
وَفى لي بِأَهليهِ وَزادَ كَثيرا
And a time that paid Fate's debt to me through one alone, / Who made up for all the world's kin and gave abundantly.
I drank to the splendor of the light upon his brow, / Amidst blossoms where the water's murmur meets the eye.
شَرِبتُ عَلى اِستِحسانِ ضَوءِ جَبينِهِ
وَزَهرٍ تَرى لِلماءِ فيهِ خَريرا
Through him the people seem doubled—may I never lose him! / And my life, beneath his wing, became an age of ages.
غَدا الناسُ مِثلَيهِم بِهِ لا عَدِمتُهُ
وَأَصبَحَ دَهري في ذَراهُ دُهورا
