A book has come to us, all people,
Among the writings of mankind, a letter has come forth,
through the hand of its author, may all hands be sacrificed for it.
May every hand be ransom for its writer's hand.
It expresses what we have,
It gives expression to the bond he holds with us,
and recalls the longing we find.
And recounts a longing that mirrors exactly what we find.
It tore apart the views of who saw it,
The sight of it has dazzled the eyes of the beholder,
and dazzled whoever critiqued it.
And its brilliance has struck the critic dumb with awe.
When people heard its words,
For when the people hear the phrasing of his words,
they created envy for it in hearts.
Those lines provoke deep envy within every heart.
So I said, as the eloquent examined it:
So I declared, as he ravaged the ranks of the eloquent:
Thus does the lion, son of a lion, act.
"This is the deed of the Lion, true son of the Lion."
