You were greeted with an oath, and I ransom the swearer
Blessed be the oath, and I ransom the one who swore it,
The people have become reverent and honoring of him
To whom all mankind has turned in reverence and awe.
And if I sought the ruler’s favor by drinking it
For if I seek the Prince's favor by quaffing the wine,
And took it, I would have surely abandoned the sacred
And seize the cup, I have truly forsaken the forbidden.
