The remnant of a people who announced ruin
A remnant of a folk who have signaled their own demise,
And the brightness of journeys like the drinking of medicine
Worn gaunt by travel, like those drunk on vintage wine.
We descended upon the rule of the winds in a mosque
We halted at the mercy of the winds within a mosque,
Upon us it had a garment of pebbles and dust
Clothed by the gale in a tunic of gravel and dust.
My two friends this is not a dwelling for our likes
O my two friends, this is no campsite for our kind,
So pack up and depart by daylight
So saddle the mounts and depart by the light of day.
And do not deny the blowing of the winds for it
And do not denounce the violent blowing of the storm,
Is the lodging of every guest who spent the night at encampments
For it is the feast of every guest who lodges with Siwar.
