You met the supplicants with their hopes fulfilled,
You met the barefoot with their hopes
You met the supplicants with their hopes fulfilled,
and visited the enemies with their appointed deaths.
And visited the enemies with their fates
And visited the enemies with their destined dooms,
The Byzantines came walking toward you,
And the Romans came walking towards you
The Romans advanced, marching toward you,
among the lions and their cubs.
Among the lions and their cubs
Amidst the lions and their whelps,
If they see the lions taken captive,
When the lioness sees her cub captive
If they saw the lions themselves taken captive,
where, then, can they flee with their children?
Where can she flee with her young?
Where then could they flee with their young?
