    قرقفاً تدعى بريق

    Lovely cups with ruby sheen

    Filled with pure wine

  4. في كؤوس من عقيق

    عصرت من أقحوان

    Pressed from vine

    In the garden of the vintner

  5. في رياض الجلنار

    بين ورد وبهار

    Among roses and Spring

    The scent of wine delights me

  6. لذّ لي لثم العقار

    من ثنيات الحسان

    From the bending boughs

    So pardon me, you who pardon

  7. فاعذروني يا عذولي

    ودعوا قول الفضول

    And hush the gossipy words

    If my illness and leanness

  8. إن سقمي ونحولي

    في الهوى كل الأَماني

    In love, all wishes

    Leave me to my tears

  9. ودعوني وبكائي

    من بخيل بالوفاء

    Of one who's miserly with loyalty

    It's God's decree, my misery

  10. قدر الله شقائي

    في هواه وهواني

    In his love and my disgrace

    He owns my soul and being

  11. ملك الروح ومالي

    طرفه لما ومالي

    His glance beckons me

    And calls my heart insistently

  12. ودعا قلبي ومالي

    لا ألبي من دعاني

    I do not resist when called

    The day we parted was hard

  13. لسعتي يوم الفراق

    صعبت عن الف راق

    It was hard to leave

    So remind me of reunions

  14. فأدر ذكر التلاقي

    واسقني راح الأغاني

    And pour me the wine of song

    Oh nights of intimacy, return

  15. يا ليالي الأنس عودي

    بمليح وبعود

    With a fair and slim beloved

    Defeat the army of rejecters

  16. واهزمي جند الصدود

    وانظمي عقد التهاني

    And string the pearls of affection
