  1. وظائف الإنسان في دنياه

    أن يعبد الله وأن يخشاه

    The Duties of Man in His Life

    To worship God and fear Him

  2. وأن يكون راضياً بما قضى

    ولم يكن لحكمه معترضا

    And to accept what He has decreed

    Not objecting to His rule

  3. واعلم بأن لعلم نور وهدى

    والجهل لا يأتي بخير أبدا

    Know that knowledge is light and guidance

    While ignorance never leads to good

  4. سبحان من منّ علينا بالقلم

    وعلّم الإنسان ما لم يعلم

    Glory to Him who gave us the pen

    And taught man what he knew not

  5. من مارس العلوم والعرفانا

    يجني ثمار المجد حيث كانا

    He who pursues knowledge and wisdom

    Will reap the fruits of glory wherever he is

  6. والزهد في العلم من الحرمان

    والمرء بالقلب واللسان

    While abstaining from knowledge is deprivation

    A man is known by his heart and tongue

  7. من لم تهذبه فنون الوقت

    لا زال ملحوظاً بعين المقت

    He whom the arts of his time do not refine

    Remains scorned in the eyes of the astute

  8. والبحث عن طبائع الزمان

    من الضروريات للانسان

    Studying the ways of the times

    Is a necessity for man

  9. من لم تحنكه يد التجريب

    يعيش في دنياه كالغريب

    He who is not seasoned by experience

    Lives his life like a stranger

  10. وعزة المرء من رأس المال

    فلا تهن نفسك بالسؤال

    A man’s honor comes from his capital

    So do not debase yourself by asking

  11. وتبتغي من فضله تعالى

    رزقاً هنيئاً طيّباً حلالا

    And seek from His bounty, exalted is He

    A good and pure lawful provision

  12. وأقرب الناس إلى الحرمان

    من قطع الأيام بالأماني

    The most deprived of people

    Is one who spends his days hoping

  13. فانهض بخير حسب الاستطاعة

    ونعم كنز المؤمن القناعة

    So rise to do good as much as you can

    For contentment is the believer's treasure

  14. والقصد في العيش من التدبير

    والمال لا يبقى مع التبذير

    Moderation in living is prudent

    While wealth does not last with squandering

  15. كما تدين في الورى تدان

    ومن أهان غيره يُهان

    As you judge in this world so shall you be judged

    And he who insults others will be insulted

  16. ولا تَردِ موردَ الشقاق

    والزور والبهتان والنفاق

    Do not frequent places of conflict

    Lies, slander and hypocrisy

  17. فربنا جلَّ عظيم الشان

    يأمر بالعدل والإحسان

    For our Lord, exalted is His glory

    Commands justice and benevolence

  18. واستعمل الرفق تجد رفيقاً

    ولا تجد لأحمق صديقاً

    Use gentleness and you will find a friend

    But a fool will have no companions
