1. وَشَهباوَينَ مِن سَنَةٍ وَحَربٍ

    سَلَبتَهُما الفَوارِسَ وَالجُدوبا

    With years of toil and strife engraved

    The horsemen and warriors deprived them of glory

  2. إِذا ماشِئتَ أَن تَلقى بِأَرضٍ

    لَقَيتَ لَهُ بِها كَرَماً عَجيبا

    If you wish to meet on a land

    You will find there a wondrous generosity

  3. يُديرُ بِكَفِّهِ سَيفَ المَنايا

    إِذا سَلَأَت حُمَيّا القُلوبا

    With his palm he wields the sword of death

    When the zeal of hearts is unsheathed
