1. لَولا سُيوفُ أَبي الزُبَيرِ وَخَيلُهُ

    نَشَرَ الوَليدُ بِسَيفِهِ الضَحّاكا

    Had it not been for Abu Zubayr's swords and his horses

    Al-Walid would have spread with his sword the killer

  2. رَضِيَت سُيوفُكَ عَنكَ يَومَ لَقيتَهُم

    وَأَجَبتَ داعِيَ المَوتِ حينَ دَعاكا

    Your swords were pleased with you the day you met them

    And you answered the caller of death when he called you

  3. وَكَأَنَّ لَيثَ الغابِ في إِقدامِهِ

    يَوماً رَآكَ تُريدُهُ فَحَكاكا

    It was as if the lion of the forest in his daring

    One day saw you intending it so told you

  4. إِنَّ الرِفاقَ أَتَتكَ تَلتَمِسُ الغِنى

    وَالبَحرُ لَو يَجِدُ السَبيلَ أَتاكا

    Indeed companions have come to you seeking wealth

    And the sea, if it finds a way, will come to you
