لَقَد تَعشَّقْتُه أُذْناً وَلَم أرَهُ

فَكانَ دونِيَ رائيهِ بِلا مَيْنِ

I fell in love with him through hearing, without seeing

So my vision of him had no blemish or stain

يا لَيتَ جِسمِيَ آذانٌ لِتَعشَقهُ

فَالعشقُ بِالأذنِ فَوقَ العِشقِ بِالعَينِ

Would that my body were all ears, to fall in love with his voice

For love through hearing surpasses love through sight
