عَلى وَردِ خَدَّيهِ السنِيِّ تَصوّرَت
جَمالاً عُيونُ العاشِقين رواقَا
Upon the radiant rose of his cheeks there took shape,
in beauty, the lovers’ eyes as an arcade—
كَما أَنّها مِن شِدّةِ الحبّ وَالهَوى
على خَصرِهِ المَنحول دارَت نِطاقا
just as, through the intensity of love and longing,
they circled his slender waist as a girdle.
