1. وَظَبيٍ وظَبيٍ قابَلَ البَدرَ وجهُهُ

    فَبَينَهُما مَدّا عَموداً حَكى الفَجرا

    A gazelle met the full moon face to face

    Between them a column stretching to the dawn

  2. فَقَد كادَ بَهرُ الأفق يَجذِبُ وَجهَه

    وَقَد كادَ وَجهُ الحبِّ أَن يَجذِبَ البَدرا

    The brightness of the horizon almost pulled its face

    While the face of the beloved almost pulled the moon
