وَقَفت تَمُرُّ بِيَ الغيدُ يَوماً
فَتَحلو بِعَينِيَ حينَ تَمُرُّ
I stood one day as graceful maidens passed me by;
they grow lovely in my eyes whenever they pass.
وَمِنهُنّ أَبصَرتُ أَربَعَةً
لَها الصّدرُ قَلبٌ لَها القَلبُ صَدرُ
Among them I beheld four,
each one’s breast a heart, each one’s heart a breast.
