Indeed, the noble al-Kuzbari journeyed by night, mounted
on the steed of resolve—armed with firm judgment, not bundles.
His destination was Jerusalem, which was ennobled
truly by its Rock and its sacred mosque.
He visited its most excellent Rock and its mosque,
and visited every revered place there.
He visited every prophet whose mortal remains lie there,
and every saint whose footing is firm.
He returned from it, the lights of divine acceptance rising
over his countenance, marked with beauty.
And he settled in Jillīq—Damascus—erasing her ignorance,
as the full moon dispels the shadows of the blackest night.
May God never let the striving he has undertaken go to waste, nor
ever show him, through all time, misery or affliction.
