مَنارَةٌ كَثُرت سُرْجاً وَقَد رُفِعت
فَخِلتَها كَالثّريّا دونَ ما رِيَبِ
A minaret whose lamps were many, raised aloft—
I took it for the Pleiades, without a trace of doubt;
إِذ أَنّها سَمِعَت إِنشادَ مُنشِدنا
إِلَيهِ قَد هَبَطَت رَقصاً مِنَ الطرَبِ
for it had heard our chanter’s song,
and descended toward him, dancing with delight.
