جاءَ يَسعى إِلى الصّلاةِ بِوَجهٍ
قَد حَوَت وَجنَتاهُ أَسنى الورودِ
He came hastening to prayer, his face
Adorned with the fairest roses.
وَسَرى فيهِ لِلمَحاسِنِ نورٌ
أَخجَلَ البَدرَ في لَيالي السعودِ
A light for beauty shone through it,
Shaming the full moon on brightest nights.
فَتَمَنَّيت أَنَّ وَجهِيَ أرضٌ
تَسعد الدّهرَ عِندَ لَمسِ الخدودِ
How I wished my face was a ground
That would be blessed when his cheeks touched down,
وَعَليها يَكونُ مِنهُ سُجود
حينَ أَومى بِوَجهِهِ لِلسّجودِ
And he would prostrate himself upon it
When he bowed his face down in worship.
