بِأَبي محيّاها اِزدَرى شَمس الضّحى
وَاللّيلُ يَحكي شَعرها تَحقيقا
May my father be a ransom for her face, which put the forenoon sun to shame.
And night truly resembles her hair.
وَجهٌ نَقِيُّ الخدِّ قلت وَشعرها
لِلعِشقِ فَوقَ الرّملِ خَطَّ طَريقا
A face with an unblemished cheek, I said; and her hair
Traced a path for love across the sand.
