قَد نَزَل الشّيبُ بِرَأسي وَقالْ
قُمْ هَيِّئِ الزادَ وَشدَّ الرّحال
Gray hair has settled upon my head and said:
“Rise, prepare provisions, and fasten the saddles.”
وَالشّيبُ شَمسٌ قَد تَبدَّت وَهَل
بَعدَ طُلوعِ الشّمسِ إِلّا الزّوال
And gray hair is a sun that has appeared; and is there
after the sun’s rising anything but decline?
