1. This dog has lapped from the watering place of slander,

    and multiplied falsehood in his slander and babbled.

  2. He revived corruption in Beirut and corrupted it,

    after its good order; there he oppressed and transgressed,

  3. with a band whose birth was from corruption,

    of every ravager who transgressed through excessive corruption,

  4. and one who claims to be righteous, yet

    he has attained nothing in life beyond knowing his own name.

  5. Likewise, of every devil whose rebellion

    led him, through ignorance, to sow discord among humankind;

  6. and one who appears, his outward self showing you love,

    while his heart has been tanned with fierce hatred.

  7. Hypocrisy is his cloak, wrapped around him,

    a fabric of lies, dyed with slander.

  8. Of every vicious dog that lashed out with corruption,

    and every speckled serpent that bit with corruption;

  9. and everyone who went ever further in his misdeeds,

    and whose armor of corruption has grown ample for evil.

  10. A people who obeyed the self's desires when they mounted

    the horses of corruption and said, "Today is a day of battle."

  11. Their chief, that vicious dog, became

    the sheikh of corruption; he inclined toward the corrupt.

  12. Love of leadership has blinded his inner sight,

    and carried him ever further until he transgressed and oppressed.

  13. Nimr, out of ignorance, has displayed his misdeeds

    openly; in his corruption he foamed and bellowed.

  14. Time will perish, but his misdeeds will not perish;

    he has indeed stayed busy with them and never found respite.

  15. And they obeyed him because he had duped them,

    and brought him to what he had sought, and he babbled.

  16. O Lord, cleanse our whole town of them;

    spread death and ruin among them, O Lord.
